James Johnston born in 1888. Where i do not know.

I have been told by another researcher that his wife's christian names were Edith Alma.

James was a Magistrate in the Indian Civil Service.

Does anyone have the means or ways of looking to see if they married in India please?
They had a Son Edmund born in Bengal 1907.

Quite a lot - he was a solicitor, and Douglas is their son.

Another one, probate granted Lancaster 25/2/1957 to Edmund Maurice Johnston, retired solicitor, Douglas Phillips Sturton and Hubert John Phillips Sturton, bot solicitors. for the effects of Edith Alma Johnston, died 20/6/1956, a widow of 54 Priory Avenue Dublin. She died in Meath hospital, Dublin.

JOHNSTON Klaziena Mary On 19th January 2011, aged 92, peacefully at Nazareth House, Plymouth. Wife of Edmund Maurice Johnston (deceased). Mother of Ian, Fiona, and Irene, and sister of Frans, Dennis, Ada and Ted (all deceased). Thanks to all staff at Nazareth House and Derriford Hospital for their loving care in mum's last weeks, and also to the many Home Care workers who gave her support in recent years. Do you have any idea when James Johnston died - to look for probate? I know their son Edmund Maurice died in 1997 in Plymouth, but can't pinpoint James as it too common a name and may have been in Ireland.

No i do not have a clue at present and from what my cousin tell us all, neither do some of the decendants.

I often thinks he may have died in India, i now think the birthdate i had of 1888 is wrong and it is more like 1875.Later family members moved to the SW of England.
