Good morning everyone

A lot happening I see on this Thread at the moment.

Don' t think it will help not being able to inform others that they have done the wrong thing on the boards ( double posting ) ...that is just plain silly.

IT will mean more reporting if that's the case.

A lot more reporting on the boards overnight again.

Maybe our phantom reporters have taken offence at this thread and don't like us telling them what they can and can't do....sorry but as they tell others we must abide by Genes Rules ....that applies to everyone.

Genes need to take charge here and start listening to there members .

There are so many disenchanted members out there if you go around the boards ,some don't like the new tree some the colour scheme.

Unless Genes step in I can't see how we can stop all this reportng, there are some it seems hell bend on disrupting this site as much as possible.

"We thank you in anticipation of your co-operation and adherence to the terms of your Genes Reunited membership.

Kind Regards,

Genes Reunited Support Team"

I won't have to worry soon....seven more days! Maybe I am cutting off my nose to spite my face.....I haven't looked at my tree - let alone added to it - for months. And your tree is free to use anyway. The membership allows contact and participation in the boards. And yes I will miss this, and yes I might well cave in at some point but in the meantime I want to make my point. That GR have ruined what was a wonderful site. That they may well end up with a load of bright shiny users who like their bright shiny site and who haven't got a clue where FH is concerned :-(

Jude

Don't loose faith just yet ...you never know what is around the corner.

I for one hope Genes listen to there members and give them what THEY want...they don't seem to be paying much attention to what anyone is saying at the moment.

I agree with Jude,
I must admit I've lost faith in this site, and I wish I'd not bothered renewing my membership in July, I'll certainly think twice about it next year.

I also had a thread whooshed a while back, which was only asking for advice, as someone on another site (A) had included my rellies with hers and had it all wrong, and I didn't have access to that site to inform her.

I don't bother to post on the boards very often now. (just read the comments etc).
G.R. would (in my opinion) do better if they listened to it's members, instead of posting continually of fb. (waiting for this to get whooshed)!! ;-)

I think that possibly all the reporting of threads and posts is the root of the problem. If genes weren't always receiving requests for removals etc they would leave us alone to get on with researching however we want to. It is the fact that every few minutes they get a request to R R something that they get pee'd off with the time involvedto do this and answer any emails connected to it.

I'm NOT saying that everything else about the site is as it should be but maybe if the RRers kept their fingers off of the button everything would go quiet and Genes would have more time to sort out site problems and on a 'if you don't bother us we won't bother you' basis we could get on with what we like best, research both for ourselves and others using whatever resources we have at our disposal. I have been a member since December 2003 and it my very low membership fee and the boards (most of the time) that keep me here.

As I see it there is two types of action GR can take,

1) GR could vet all threads before they get posted

2) GR could appoint moderators to police these boards, to advise and in some cases to privately warn people, and in worst cases suspend people uses of these boards, and remove posts that blatantly brake the rules ,and to edit posts

I for one don't see it as my job to police these boards if for GR to do , that is one of the reason I pay a subscription for.

But its now a sad fact of life, that there is a very small number of people, with very low I Q's, who we call trolls , who's sole joy in life , is to cause trouble for everyone else.

we should all try to rise above this, and continue what we enjoy doing, research our families, and help were we can, and bring a smile to other people

All other sites to which I subscribe are moderated effectively and I have never understood why it is not done in genes reunited.

After five days of standard replies I have now recieved a reason why my post was removed

Thanks for coming back to us Jax,

I've had a look at the post:

'So have you deleted the other thread?

No here it is

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/living_relatives/thread/1309858'

and although it's not malicious and is intended to stop duplicate searches, it does come across as though you're admonishing the poster. We're all for members pointing out someone else's error in a polite and friendly manner, but we deemed this post to be not in keeping with the spirit of the site and the boards, which is why it was removed.

I hope you understand our reasons for this Jax.

Kind Regards,

No I dont actually GR.....The poster had mentioned there being another thread, so I asked if it had been deleted......then I had to go searching for it in the advanced search, since the Keyword search has been removed, also to find the poster had changed his name which did'nt help...which why I wrote.... No here is is

So in future just post the link and dont say anything, which wont mean a thing to most new posters and then they can carry on posting on the duplicate...or...just report it is the best way as it gives the GR staff something to do.
