NO STRESS HONEST,M just so interesting how things were interprated or written down, make me wish I had done this years ago, I will be writing down my modern day family and everything about them, there is so many un answred questions of WHY?

lAST QUESTION TO ANYONE, what info have we on William his father then, I have a mixed bag of maybes for Edwards/Edwins family, first time I have heard of William but I think there was a Jane as his poss mother bur a lady called Elizabeth with different surnames keeps turn up as 'living' with them? :-S

The witnesses to the 1845 marriage were John Gloyns and Edwin Lucks.

William Collings is EDWIN/EDWARD's father so it wouldn't be unusual for him to use the name for one of his sons. And I wouldn't stress too much about the slight discrepancy in the name - he probably though Edwin sounded more classy!
My great x 4 grandfather varied between Edwin and Edward and just to make it really interesting his brother was Edmund, as long as the other family members are consistent you should be O.K.

Re Gins post for probate on Edwin Collings he lived at 7 Cloudsey Place London N1 and died on 05/01/1965 in the Highlands Hospital London N21. Admin to Doris Annie READ, married woman.

Doris married Benjamin Reas in 1962 three years before Edwin died so I wonder if ther is a divorce somewhere.

Why do we keep getting the name EDWIN, when it was EDWARD? OR !!!!!!

Sorry I couldn't help you with the Guernsey records, Jersey and Guernsey have separate administrations, but here are the details of the Edwin/Sarah marriage.

8/1/1845 at Hilgrove Street Chapel

Edwin Collings, aged 20, bachelor, occupation Coach Trimmer, living in Providence Street, born in Devonport. Father William Collings - Blacksmith

Sarah Ann Gloyns, aged 21, spinster, living in Belmont Rd., born in Plymouth. Father William Gloyns - Mariner

The witnesses were John Gloyns and Edwin Lucks.

Because Gloyns is such an unusual name I had to look up the other marriage that was in the same register.

24/4/1843 at The Independent Chapel

William Daker, aged 48, widower, occupation Gardener, living in Providence Street, born in Muchwenlock, Shrops. Father Unknown

Ann Gloyns née Bird, aged 49, widow, living in Providence Street, born in Plymouth. Father John Bird - Labourer

I don't think she's actually part of this household and I doubt very much if she's a step-daughter.

Having said that she's in Guernsey rather than Jersey and unfortunately I don't have any access to Guernsey records.

I think all naval records are kept at Kew but I'm not really sure, I got my Great Great Grandfathers naval records from there.

Firstly I know nothing else much about them.

Except JOHN JOSEPH, who lived a very checkered past. he is my great great grand pa, and seems to be a bit of a travelling bigamist. But for some reason uses the surname COSBY, or ROUSE, or COSBY ROUSE, which seemed to originate from the Channel Islands.

So any information on any of them would be great, and is there anyway of contacting the RMA in Guernsey/Jersey to find out Henry's records, again I cant seem to track him?

Oh wow, jerseylily well done. I know what your possible reply will be,but my only confusion is why does Edwins father also keep being referred to as 'Edwin' when he was an Edward?

Jerseylily if I ask nicely can you look up some records for me on more family member living/born/died on the Islands, related to my Mums side, with a possible twist. :-D

The 2 1841s posted have addresses very close to each other so it's likely that John was Sarah's older brother.

Between 1849 and 1851 Elizabeth Gloyns née Medder plus Sarah and Matilda were admitted to the General Hospital (Workhouse)

Here they are in 1851 so they were probably admitted after the census date.
