Publication:Exeter and Plymouth Gazette Publication date:Friday 17 June 1864 Article text:"Torquay, and Isaac Lane, Beer, fishermen, stated that it was very common for crab pots to get adrift in a gale, and they were also liable to be carried away by passing vessels. Crab pots were picked up almost daily, and the custom was to retain them in use until they could be returned to the owner" Isaac was giving evidence for the defence, he was not guilty of anything.
