Only looking at trees on Ancestry and they include a marriage for Jemima in Manchester and three children born to that marriage in Tasmania and Auckland...with that Jemima being born in North Wales :-S

I see the marriage you refer to - allegedly - took place in New Zealand...as were - allegedly - the births of the children

If you get the birth certificate of one of the children, then you will know what the mother's surname should be.
Always work backwards systematically.

Could you copy over a census that you have found them in?

Thank-you

Hi helpful folk,

I am looking for a marriage for William Alfred Jones b. 1832 Llanelly to a Jemima b. 1829. Married 1856. Other family members have the marriage as 1886 but as their first child was born 1857 I'm picking it could be a mistake. I have found a couple of marriages in Glamorganshire that would fit but can't find the fathers' names. Is that normal for this period? The bride's surname could be James but once again the rellies have it as Jones which could be correct I suppose. I am wanting the groom's father's name to be John. William is my gg grandfather. I don't want to be buying dozens of MCs just to be wrong.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Jill
