The dates of birth have't really helped much Kath but at least we know that the correct births are on the thread Kath.

I think the route that I would go down now is to try to trace the Mum's family, if that hasn't been done, just in the hope that they may have some information that would help.

Have now had a reply to my pm from Steven saying that the two births I gave on this thread are correct so he must have looked back at the thread.. He has the exact dates of birth and address for the births so must already have the birth certificates.

Roy, Steve has sent me a PM with the dates of birth for the girls. I am not sure that I should post them here as they may still be living. What do you think?

I have replied asking for answers to be posted on the thread and also asking that the box is "unticked" as all the helpers will then think that no more assistance is required.

Have sent you a reply Roy

Yes I saw that Roy. I have bumped up the other thread so Val can see both when she returns as I am sure she will now that Kath has PM'd her

As suggested on the other thread, a copy of Mary Agnes's birth certificate would help as you would then have an exact date of birth.

Do you know why the girls were put in a convent please? Did their Mum die? Or could it be that she was marrying and her new husband didn't want to take the girls on?

Just because the girls were put in a convent, it doesn't necessarily mean that they had no contact with their Mum's family. My Grandmother was put into a convent aged 5 years when her father died but she did keep in touch with her mother and siblings and was reunited with them when she was old enough to leave the convent and go into service.

rootgatherer, It wasn't Val's thread, Jean was the one who started the thread 5 days ago on behalf of another member who now appears to be Val who appears to be using the account of a Steven

Perhaps Val just didn't know how to get back to her thread as there are only 2 posts against her name.

Porkie_Pie Report 20 Feb 2014 12:06

Steven is this the same mary agnes gibbons b1920 that Jean was helping you with and posted asking for help 5 days ago?

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1337434

There are answers on that thread, This new enquiry will only serve to duplicate the same info as already given,

If you have further info to help then it should have been added to that thread

By no means certain but this is a possibility for a marriage if she was not adopted and kept her name:-

Name: GIBBONS, Mary A

Spouse's last name: Mcmahon

If the above was correct then there is this possible death (with the first names the other way round):-

Name: MCMAHON, Agnes M
Registration district: Hackney
County: London
Year of registration: 1963
Quarter of registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Age at death: 44
