Chris from Kent Report 22 Jul 2014 13:20

Sorry folks, me again
I really think we are on the right track with Matilda from Garboldisham
BUT big BUT, did they make mistakes on marriage documents on the ages of couples who married. How can I find out for sure?
Was going to say would they have six children before tieing the knot?
These days I would have no problem with it but then....
Any ideas?

Hi Maureen
I am with you on this. She changed her mind on the censuses Norfolk on one Cambridge on the next.

I have just found a Gorleston in Suffolk, Norfolk
But Garboldisham is in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire

Garboldisham seems to tick both boxes

Hi Chris,

Somehow I managed to miss your previous update. Sorry.

Makes you want to scream, doesn't it? How frustrating for you. It really does look as though she (the mother) is the Matilda born in Garboldisham.....but I'm obviously biased.;-)

Hi everyone.
I have received the birth cert for Matilda born 9/3/1869 in Deptford.
Father Alfred Holland. Mother Matilda Holland formerly Firman
I think it is now very probable that Matilda put her Mothers maiden name on my Great Grandads Arthurs birth cert. On closer look there is a dot above what looked like an o, so I believe Arthurs cert has also Firman and not forman.
Still cannot find marrriage.
I am now looking very closely to Maureens post regarding Firman & Barrett
