Find Ancestors

I'm confused too, The family thought their Mcmahon were from county Clare but the names given of oldest relatives was John Mcmahon and Mary Foley confirmed by Marriage cert 1912, 1911 census separately gives their births in County Kerry, John in Cahersiveen and Mary in Killorglin. The 1901 census in Cahersiveen shows a john Mcmahon rigth birth date and right father's name. Thats all I have to go on.

Nicola...The McMahon surname is more predominant in the Co Clare than the Co Kerry ..but if you think that they are the correct ones then you need to follow that line but I would suggest with Caution...There is always the possibility that 2 John McMahons married Mary Foleys ...!!!

I cannot locate the McMahon family 1911 Ire....Patrick of course may have already been deceased and Brid.as well I cannot locate any of the younger children...

Daniel is living with John O'Connell 48 Top St Caher.
Catherine and Mary are living with Denis J.Connell 43 Main St.

But the others are not to be found so far....

Patrick McMahon married Brid Moriarty 17 Feb 1880 Cahirciveen.
Pats.father John McMahon .Bridgets father Timothy Moriarty.

I don't see how I can be sure of finding the right birth for John? I have found nothing in County Clare? why would he say he was born in Kerry on the 1911 census?
I hadn't thought about the possibility of there being 2 marriages between a john Mcmahon and Mary Foley! Maybe I should give up on this one.
