Are you sure Alan that that's not your Ada?. She may have added a couple of years to her age if she wasn't legally allowed to marry without the permission of a parent or guardian.

a tree on Ancestry that I think might have your Leather connection - it lists Sarah Egerton born Northwich, England, married to John Liversidge, and died 1928 in Lawrence, Mass. Her parents are listed as Charles Egerton & Elizabeth Leather. Elizabeth was born 1842 in Hertsford, Chesire and died 25 Dec. 1937 in Northwich Chesire.

Hi Chris, i read your link and it is definatly my Gt Aunt Ada that they are talking about, can not quite understand the conversation, are they saying that she emigrated to the U.S.A. ?

The Ada Teather that Andy posted is a mistranscription and the image reads 'Leather' a school teacher in 1911

Hi Andy, my Gt aunt was Ada Leather not Teather, the dates are about right, but she was Born in Openshaw Manchester and not Ditton near Wigan, so feel sure that this is not her, Thank you anyway.

Hi rootsgatherer, yes i have noticed the two spellings, Helena / Eleanor and do not know which is correct. The most recent Joseph leather that you have put on is not my Gt Granddad, my Joseph was born in Northwich on 4th May 1842 and his Parents were James Leather born 1812 in Northwich and Elizabeth Leather nee Beech born in 1816, they married on 29th May 1833 at Witton in Northwich. I have not been able to get any further back than them.

Think this may be Joseph and Elizabeth with their parents in 1851. Do you have a name and occupation for Joseph's Dad from one of his marriage certificates please?
