I'm going to throw this death into the ring for son Frederick

Name Frederick Edward J S Godden
Birth date 25 Feb 1888
Date of Registration Dec 1974
Age at death 86
Death Registration District Surrey South Eastern
Inferred County Surrey
Vol 17
Page 1005

Could the ' J S' in his name be for 'John Slade' making his full name Frederick Edward John Slade Godden?

it might be nothing at all and a bit like clutching at straws but nevertheless thought it might be worth sharing!

So the William on the 18 91 census is Percival William

Two names to search by for him then on later census etc

I tried searching for her sons together without using a surname in case they were lurking on the census under Elizabeth's new partner's surname but I'm sorry I still couldn't find them in 1901 or 1911.

If she did live with someone else it's likely she took the mans name as she couldn't marry him .unless she committed bigamy .worth looking for another marriage though .
Were the sons with any other family menbers

If she'd left her husband, he may well have said he was a widower, to save face.

Hi, I haven't been able to find a death record for my gt grandmother. Harriet Elizabeth Slade. Nee BrownAlso known as Bessie and married as Elizabeth.

She was born 1869 Wareham. Dorset.
Married Edward Slade. 1887 Dorset

In 1891 census she her husband Edward and two sons Frederick Edward John born 1888 and William. Bapt. Percival William born 1890 were in Fordington Dorset

1901 her husband is recorded as widower sawyer lodger in Dewlish Dorset
So her death should be between 1891 &1901. But I can't find it under any name variation. I also cannot find her two sons after 1891
In 1886 before her marriage, she had my grandfather no father named. William George Brown always known as George William. He lived with and was brought up by Bessies parents.
Between 1891 & 1901 her parents and most of her siblings moved to Southampton.

My 94 year old aunt remembers visiting a Aunt Bessie in London who had two older sons and possibly one or two daughters. Could Bessie have left her husband and gone to Southampton with her family? Met someone else and moved.

Just a thought . A brick wall that I cant. Leave alone.
