It looks as if they were both servants in the same household in the 1861 census:-

I can't seem to find Mary in the 1851 census going by the age she gives in the 1861 census.

Andrew

Andrew Report 13 Jan 2016 15:24

There seem to be several possible births for her. The marriage cert should name her father if known.

Andy

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 13 Jan 2016 15:27

This is a likely birth for her:-

First name(s) MARY
Last name BRADLEY
Birth year 1842
Birth quarter 2
Registration month -
Mother's last name -
District NOTTINGHAM
County Nottinghamshire
Country England
Volume 15
Page 582

As Andrew says, her marriage certificate should name her father (if she knew him).

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 13 Jan 2016 15:33

This is another possible birth (although she doesn't give a middle name on her marriage):-

First name(s) MARY ANNE
Last name BRADLEY
Birth year 1841
Birth quarter 2
Registration month -
Mother's last name -
District BINGHAM
County Nottinghamshire
Country England
Volume 15
Page 471

I thought this might be possible if this 1841 census was her family and the 9 year old Mary here died and she was named after her:-

1841 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription
Keyworth, Bingham, Nottinghamshire, England

First name(s) Last name Gender Age Birth year Birth place

William Bradley Male 50 1791 Nottinghamshire, England
Mary Bradley Female 9 1832 Nottinghamshire, England
Ann Barnes Female 50 1791 Nottinghamshire, England

I think you definitely need her marriage certificate.
