At long last I have obtained the marriage certificate which states that both Charles and Mary Hannah were 25 at the time plus Charles father was called George Adams and was a Railway Signalman.
The witnesses are George and Sarah A Adams.
Charles profession is given as Shoe maker

The marriage took place in the Bethesda Chapel, Peckover Street, Bradford.

In view of Charles age there is this birth in FreeBMD :-

this is a tough one! Was there an address listed for Charles on the marriage certificate?

Thanks AustinQ, this appears to be the correct family. On the marriage certificate the residence for Charles is given as 36 Church Street, Windhill and Mary Hannah is also at Church Street, Windhill. Windhill is part of Shipley, next to Idle!

Thank you lancashireAnn and AustinQ, all is now explained and my reason for doubts is solved as it is Mary Hannah that gave me my problem, upside down. Her age on the marriage is incorrect and should have been 29 so she and Charles were not the same age at 25. Working it through all the info on Charles fits and now we know why he was missing from the family in 1891. Thank you for all your efforts. I still have one block on my progress back as Charles' grandfather Charles does not have a full record of birth in IGI for 1801 so no parents showing up.

Second marriage for Charles born c1801- marriage cert will give you father's name.
