lancashireann .............

Thanks ..... I forgot about checking lancsbmd to see if mmn was shown.

I did check on there for a death of a Hannah of a suitable age, as well as on freebmd, and on ancestry.

I missed Richard from that list

Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1858
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Mother's Maiden Name Reference
CROOK Richard Ancoats Archives+, Manchester Central Library PENNINGTON

I am puzzled that I have not found a birth reg for Cornelius who would have been born between Frederick & Jesse (Jessie?)

Thanks Sylvia

Looking at the wrong year for Cornelius as I used the 1861 age of 10 which is why I could not find him.

Just found Frances who appears to have died in 1858.

Cane ...............

do you know about this site??

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~blacksmiths/index.htm

It might be worth entering William into the data base ....... I got a contact from a previously unknown cousin there after I'd entered OH's gt grandfather.

SylviaInCanada Report 31 Mar 2016 22:27

Lancashireann .........

have you got anywhere looking for the death of Hannah Crook (nee Pinnington) between the 1861 Census and when William appears to have married hannah Kay (nee Cutler)?

I just cannot see any death in those 2 years for a Hannah Crook within 10 years of her age!

Did William just leave her and marry bigamously?

Mind you ...... we're not getting much further, either, in solving cane's problem re William's father!!

Mary ...............

I didn't mean to belittle what you do.

I was feeling very frustrated that I couldn't find the records that you'd posted so that I could post the link.

I'm sorry if I upset you

The only possible one I can find is

Deaths Mar 1859 (>99%)
CROOK Hannah Salford 8d 7

Salford not on lancsbmd so age unknown

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 Mar 2016 23:21

but I've been assuming that the Hannah on the 1861 is Hannah nee Pinnington, b.ca 1820.

The Hannah Crook on the 1871 is b.ca 1823 ........... and that is the one that "seems" to be Hannah Kay nee Cutler.
