Wow, that's some leap in age for Barbara! I think the above is probably correct. David, do you have any birth certificates for Barbara or son William to confirm birth date?

No Austin I haven't.

I suspect the above is correct, despite the discrepancy in Barbara's age- however, I don't see a way of being certain without at least one of the birth certificates.

I was a bit confused at first as Shirley put his birth in 1916 on page 1 on this thread

So we now have Barbara's death and son's William and Thomas death.

So what happened to Barbara's Husband William?

No worries David- it's great to have a mystery to solve. I have a few things to catch up on, but if I get time I'll try and take another look at this.

On William's military record, Margaret's DOB is given as 1914- I suspect this is the same Margaret Fox born in 1912- I'll look later.

Just to add that Barbara's place of residence with her parents on the 1911 census is

It would be great to know if Margaret married and had children. If she did marry either as Fox or Fowler, she didn't use both middle initials of A R.

I have to go out now so will check back on here later this evening or first thing tomorrow.

David- I've had another look for Barbara's husband, but can't see anything obvious for him. He isn't mentioned as living with Barbara on the report re the death of her son at sea, and neither is he listed living with her on the 1939 register (although looking at the information Choccy included she is still listed as married).

His exact DOB from his birth certificate may help to locate him either on the 1939 register or through a death record- but other than that I can't think of anything else that would help to locate him.

This would fit with the Q registration

I can't find an obvious death for William Fowler either. Actually my interest is mainly with Barbara as she is connected to my family so William's death is not too much of a bother to me really.

I have tried every way I can think of to find further info for Margaret but I am not having any luck so far. Going by the date of birth given on William's Air Force record, I am "assuming" her exact date of birth was 5th March 1912 and not 1914.

Her fathers name was James Robinson Fox and so the second initial of her middle name might very well be Robinson.

Not that it helps! :-)

Just checked the records and William Fowler's father was James Walter so that school admission record is correct.
