Potty- this is first marriage for Henry (son of Alexander) - it's confusing as he was a bit of bad boy:

Jane Adelaide was a widow at her marriage to Alexander. This looks like her first marriage:

You might find a baptism but not a birth record if his declared age is correct. English civil registration didn't start until 1837.

As his father was a Mariner, it's always possible that he was away on previous census days.

Have you found Alexander and Jane on the 1861 census to confirm his age and birthplace please?

Derek

Derek Report 17 Feb 2017 11:22

Alexander Christie married Jane Adelaide Wheddon in 1856 and William is on the wedding certificate as the father of Alexander and a Master Mariner.

Have found a William Christie a mariner on a 1851 census and wife is stated as Margaret Christie aged 63 and William aged 61 possibly Alexander's father?

Cannot find a birth record for Alexander who was 26 when married to Jane, only found a birth of an Alexander in 1831 to parents William Christie and Christina Rollo? Possible parents?

William was possibly born around 1795 though this could be inaccurate.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Many Thanks,
