Sorry I think I may have mislead everyone. The 1891 posted above does seem to be them, so that would make the death found for Fanny very possible.

After seeing what appears to be the correct census in 1861 for them, naming Zaccheus as William it is possible.

The 1851 I found for William is this one. All brothers not father and sons.

EDIT No this is a different man. With his father, Augustin and brothers in 1851. They are all clockmakers born in Germany?

Now I am looking for the death of his wife Frances/Fanny Winterhalden. It will be post 1881 because she's in that census with two of their children.

Bright eyes on this one, please.

I agree that the 1861 is very probably our family. Not sure how our man got from Zaccheus to William, though! Perhaps he was fed up with spelling his name ......

Thank you for all your hard work; much appreciated.

1861 certainly seems possible safc. Wonder if they tried anglicizing their name for that one? Who knows, maybe it was just easier for whover was writing the census details down.

Alviegal, this is BRILLIANT!
It's such a difficult name and seems to have been misheard/mistranscribed etc over the years.
The 1851 is fantastic to see.
Where, oh where, are they in 1861??
Thank you so much - you always come to my rescue.
