Using the free site mentioned before - https://www.freebmd.org.uk

you can see the births of children to the probable Nairn/Davison marriage, their subsequent marriages and children they then may have had up to 1983. After that you would need a commercial site where bmd's go up to 2006

The Ancestry tree says that James Garfield Nairn was Newcastle born - as was his Father (of the same name). You can see them together on the 1911 census.

Henry A Langfield,

married in Paisley Scotland 1950.and again in 1970 also in Paisley where his death is also recorded in 2013 Henry Alfred Langfield aged 95.giving a birth year of 1918.! obituary states passed away 12 August was a father.grandfather and gt grandfather.

,,,,,,a possible site tree search may help.

I wonder if the 1920 bith certificate is the correct one.? as by July-Sept 1938 when the marriage took place in London a long way from Newcastle !

Jean would still be only 18 and by law needed parental consent and by the 1939 register taken in Sept 1939 was back using her maiden name.and living in Newcastle.

Perhaps the 1938 marriage certificate would be best got to get a fathers name.and her given age and address.

the 1941 Nairn marriage cant be her as in 1946 she still using Langfied and living in Greenford Middlesex..

Also by 1946 /7 people were flying to US and Canada.so wont appear on a passenger list from UK.

I agree- something's not right.

Tree on Ancestry has a photo of Valerie Jean with her Mum Jean Davison dated about 1941.

Another tree has a photo of the Jean Davison that married James Nairn.

I can't say they look like the same person.

Kay???? Report 30 Jun 2017 12:38

Another thing stated by Thomas,

Divorce proceedings was done in 1944.......so another marriage prior to that would have been bigamy and carried a prison sentence.

Jean Davison married Clifford G Maclean in Brentford 1946 she may have reverted back to her maiden name.and this could be her.?

There is no outward sailing list for them but maybe Canadian access help is needed.

C G Maclean doesnt show in births nor in Scotland, but have found the below obituary where he had stepchildren so possibly Nellie is a second marriage.?

Edit -*Nellie has since passed away*Maclean was a second marriage.

CLIFFORD GEORGE MacLEAN Clifford George (Cliff), beloved husband of Nellie MacLean of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher Veterans Care Centre on August 6, 2001 at the age of 79 years. Cliff was born and raised in Manitoba. He served with the Canadian Army (Artillery) during the Second World War in France, where he was wounded in action. Cliff and Nellie moved to Calgary in 1978. During his time in Calgary, Cliff was employed at the Colonel Belcher in security. Cliff will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Nellie; stepson Lockey; stepdaughters, Audrey, Donalda and Cleo; grandchildren, Carlissa, Crystall, Jacqueline and Lockey Jr.; brother Cameron; sister Anna Marie; and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Frances MacLean; sisters, Jean and Audrey; brothers, Alex, Earle, Douglas, Harold and Hugh. A graveside service was held in the Field of Honour at Queens Park Cemetery on Saturday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service was held in the Chapel of the Colonel Belcher Veterans Care Centre on Saturday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m., with Chaplain Philip Costain officiating.
As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on Sep 22, 2001.

Both the 1938 and 1946 marriiage certificates would be of help.

Kay- you're a star!!

Not sure if that obituary is for the right Clifford- HOWEVER:-

1946 electoral register

161 Sudbury Heights is where Thomas said that Jean was living- so the marriage looks to be correct.

Thomas needs telling he has the wrong birth cert.

Between 1946 and when C G Maclean married his second wife in 1964/5 ,Jean was off the scene,,did she return to Uk as did many brides of overseas servicemen or remarry in Canada?

Edit,,

I have found someone who has a JD birth 1920 in Killowen Avenue North Holt Ealing,,,,,,this plus the other addresses from Thomas are within a stones throw of each other.in the Greenford area.!

Kay- Killowen Avenue was where Jean's daughter was born.

Where's the person that has Jean's birth listed there?

Looks good- Hopefully Thomas will be able to make contact.

Not sure how accurate the information is in that tree- they don't have Clifford Maclean listed but they do have a Harry Langfield b1881 listed.

It seems that many people on Ancestry have assumed the 1920 birth certificate for Jean that Thomas has is correct and have then attached photo's of the Jean that married Mr Nairn from someone elses tree.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 1 Jul 2017 15:34

Yes because they dont do the research and take a pluck anything out of thin air or copy others wrong research because it seems to fit.

I think its almost 99% sure things have been put on the right track,,,,,,,and Mr N or his wife have been misleading and any full reference to them should really be removed now.

Thomas Augustine Report 2 Jul 2017 16:04

I have a photo of jean and her then husband Henryalso Valerie as a baby with her mom Jean " he called himself Harry on all of the letters that he sent to Valeries adoptive parents Harry and Clare Baldock"
.I have a signed letter from Henry Alfred Langfield giving custody of Valerie Jean to Mr & Mrs Baldock On the 20/8/46
I have the birth cert for Jean 17/3/1920 I assume it is her birth certificate.
Letter from Jean to Clare Baldock dated 29/4/1946 from 232 Whitton Avenue Greenford Middlesex saying she has got her permit to go abroad.
I also have the birth certificate for Valerie Jean Langfield born 29/1/1939, mother Jean Langfield formaly Davison of 62 Killowen avenue Northholt. Her father Henry Alfred Langfield Wireless factory store keeper.
I would like to post these birth cert and pictures if you could tell me how to.
I was happily married to Valerie for 40 years before she sadly died of Cancer in 1997

Again many thanks for your help

AustinQ Report 2 Jul 2017 16:36

Thomas the photo and birth certificates you mention are on Ancestry on various trees. I think most the helpers already have access to them. However, there is confusion as the Jean born 17th March 1920 appears to have married Mr Nairn- However, the Jean that married Mr Nairn, does not appear to be the mother of Valerie.

From the addresses you gave, it seems that Valerie's birth Mum married Clifford G Maclean in 1946 and, as you say, went to Canada shortly after.

Do you have the marriage certificate of Jean and Henry? Who does Jean list as her father? What is his occupation, and Jean's address?

It would also help to have the marriage certificate of Jean and Clifford Maclean.

You can put the pictures into your Keepsafe (see top line of the page) and make them accessible to everyone with the link posted here on the thread.
