OK- it seems looking at the Glasgow Electoral registers that 312 Bell Street was previously 144 Graeme Street.

All the same surnames living there in 1928 including Mrs Isabella Milne and Alexander Milne.
--------------------------

Using 144 Grame Street on the valuation rolls show that Mrs Isabella was there in 1920.

AustinQ Report 17 Jul 2017 07:39

There were quite a few people listed at that address

Alexander, his wife, and Isabella were still there in 1933-1938:

Glasgow Electoral registers:
Alexander Milne
Mrs Isabella Milne
Mrs Nellie Milne

Just going to see if I can spot them there earlier>

Ian, was Alexander a bachelor when he married please?

From his marriage certificate say his mother was Jeanie Milne m.s. White or just Jeanie White?

He may not have been born in Glasgow. Milne is a much more common surname in Aberdeenshire and Angus. Both of those areas are connected with the fishing industry and would probably have a greater number of fish curers.

While I'm not questioning his parentage, it is also worth considering that illegitimate boys often " made up" a father with the same Christian name as their own.

OK- age of son, Alexander, not correct- so unless your Alex lied big on his marriage, it's not the correct family (unless the son Alex died and another son Alex was born shortly after the census- trying too hard to make this fit!):

1901
Name: Alexander Milne
Age: 35
Estimated birth year: abt 1866
Relationship: Head
Spouse's name : Williamina Milne
Gender: Male
Where born: Strichen, Aberdeenshire
Registration Number: 233
Registration district: Pitsligo
Civil Parish: Pitsligo
Town: Rosehearty
County: Aberdeenshire
Address: 61 Pitsligo St
Occupation: Farm Servant
ED: 1
Household schedule number: 189
LINE: 3
Roll: CSSCT1901_77
Household Members:
Name Age
Alexander Milne 35
Williamina Milne 40
Isabella Milne 13
Alexander Milne 12 Rathen, Aberdeenshire
Anne Milne 10

-------------------------------------

I'll tr and come back to this later if no-one solves it in the meantime

Not looked into this, just thinking out loud- but is it possible that his mother died and his father remarried? Perhaps being the only mother he knew:

Marriage:

WHYTE JANE (Domestic Servant) age 32
MILNE ALEXANDER (Farm Servant) age 41
Year:1906
Ref: 233/ 8
Entry Number8
RD: Name: Pitsligo

EDIT: This Alexander was a widower when he married
