HELLO ANGELA. YOUR POST WAS MADE A WHILE AGO SO FORGIVE ME IF MY INFORMATION PAST ITS SELL BY DATE..I BELIEVE GEORGE FREDERIC BATTY OF HYDE MARRIED HANNAH MOORHOUSE IN 1879 IN STOCKPORT GEORGE WAS BORN IN 1821 IN SADDLEWORTH AND IT WAS HIS SECOND MARRIAGE - HE WAS A WIDOWER. HE HAD SEVERAL CHILDREN BY HIS 1ST WIFE BUT NONE THAT I CAN TRACE WITH HANNAH. HANNAH APPEARS TO HAVE HAD 4 CHILDREN ALL BORN IN HYDE . ELIZA A 1859 JANE 1868 LIZZIE 187O AND CELIA 1873 . CELIA WAS BORN3 YEARS AFTER HANNAH DESCRIBED HERSELF ON THE 1871 CENSUS AS A WIDOW. I CANNOT FIND ANY MR MOORHOUSE -BY DEFINITION HIS SURNAME WOULD PROBABLY HAVE BEEN OTHER THAN MOORHOUSE. I MAY BE WRONG BUT I HAVE ATTRIBUTED THIS HANNAH TO ANN MOORHOUSE WHO ALSO APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A FEMME SOLE.....HOPE THIS HELPS . BEST REGARDS JAMES.

Does anyone have any information on Charles and Mary Moorhouse who lived at Potter Gate House, Fulstone Nr. Holmfirth around 1851. They had a daughter called Hannah who married someone called Battye and they in torn had a daughter called Martha Ann Battye. I would like to hear anything about either the Moorhouse family or the Battye family in that area.
