Hi Nicola,
My great great Grandfather was William Lyon born c 1819 in Wigan. His father was also a William. Up to now I have not come across any other Lyons with a Wigan link, and am really excited by your wonderful story. Do you have any info that we may share?

hi my surname is lyon and im trying to trace back to 1761 when a george lyon was born in/around orrell wigan he was a notorious highway man so the story goes and i believe i am related to this man If any one may have information regarding this persons descendants please contact me. I have discovered his place of burial and grave which is in orell also. We now live in Haydock St helens merseyside. I also belive he had children with both a mother and her daughter !! from the wigan area he was hung in lancaster in 1815
