I have a leather case embossed with the initials R Y. My parents led me to believe he was R Youghal, a relative, but I cannot find him in my family tree. Can anyone let me know he was? Regards Chris Jarvis

Hi Christopher,

Have located a Robert Yougal in Durham- DOB
1846.
Is this a possible for your Robert?
Regards
Fay

The one above can be seen on the 1881 census with his mother Ann, brother Thomas and sister Catherine who had married Thomas Blenkinsop.

Have just done a little research on the above and it appears that his name was actually Hugall (Hugh Gall could sound like Yougal).

He did marry an Emma Wardle in 1865 and had a son Thomas c1867 Haughall, Durham.
