Member Since: June 2006 Posts: 2 Send Message	hi wendy did your harriet maria speake have any connection with the shropshire villages of little stretton, all stretton or church stretton? if she did, she is probably a relation of my great grandmother edith speake. do you have any info on her parents, siblings etc? if so, i may be able to help- i haven't yet filled in most of my tree on here, but let me know if you have any questions- belinda

Member Since: November 2006 Posts: 0 Send Message	HARRIETT MARIA SPEAKE - reputed to have been born in Shropshire abt 1845. Went to S Africa at the time of the Boer War as a companion to Lady Colley. Records show she was married without permission and lived in Wolverhamption - the marriage was anulled by her father. She married Frederick Robert BRIGGS in S Africa and lived in Grey Town, Natal until her death in 1919. Any information that may help to trace her family would be appreaciated.
