Sue

Sue Report 2 Jan 2007 22:58

Hi Rebekah, I was just looking for your Walker Wray in 1841 from the other thread, not having any luck either, it looks as though the family may have split up by then. Walker Wray (transcribed also as Martha Wray) was it seems a married 'mate, aged 29 on board the ship Felicity in Lincolnshire in 1861, born Knottingley. Sue

Thankyou so much Sue. This family are important to me, as theyre direct ancestors. I just can't find out anything about them tho! I have Robert's son (also named Robert) and his family up til the present day, but as for the rest of them, not a bean! Many thanks.

Sue

Sue Report 2 Jan 2007 23:05

I spotted a Walker Wray in Knottingley born 1871, do you think he might be related?

Sue

Sue Report 2 Jan 2007 23:10

okay well there's definitely a shipping/sailor link in the family then. That was 1901 do you have that entry?

RStar

RStar Report 2 Jan 2007 23:11

No, could I have it? Im all excited now! I collect lighthouses, maybe that explains why...its in my blood. Walkers brother Robert was listed as captain on the 1881; so thats prob captain of a ship then.

No I'd say more like captains/owners of barge boats, in otherwords bargemen. There are several sites dedicated to these.
