Hiya, If you do not mind I would be gratful if you could look in the 1881 and 1889 census for: Joseph Roderick (or Rodriguez) aged 6 in 1881 and aged 15 in 1889. Father named Emmanuel and mother Julia Ann address I am unsure of it is either Denbighshire, Flintshire or Liverpool. Thanks Anne-Marie.

Sorry for the delay, Caroline, can you confirm any other family names as there is nothing under that spelling in one or two census, 1891 looks good, parents Henry & Helen but ages are weird. Sue

Hi again. Sorry for the delay.., I am finding it hard to navigate these pages.... I am not sure what area they came from.....i know that doesnt help you much..(sorry) the only inf I have is that The family came from ireland.. possibly arround the time of the potato famine. This is unconfirmed though as I have no actual proof.. I know they lived in east London when my mum was born in 1934 (29.10.34 - Jean Rose Trower) Middlesex as it was known then.., other areas that we have links with are Haggerston/shoreditch/Hoxton.. I think My Nan's mother was called Alice. She was married to '...Thackeray' first I believe, and later remarried '...Keys/Keyes' I know my Nan Lily Died in stepney Aged 41 ))oct/nov/dec 1937 Lily A Trower (nee Thackeray)died age 41 -stepney 1c 172)) Which would mean that she was born in 1896. I was told that Alice also died on this day? I have seen that a lot of Thackerays came from in and arround yorkshire at the same time but I have no clue if they are the same family, and dont know where to start in finding out. i Tried to order my nan and grandad's marriage certifecate, (((Thackeray Lily A Trower Shoreditch 1c 92 Marriages Mar 1914))) but it never arrived...... i was hoping to get inf of my nan's father so I could trace backwards... I was also told the my nan's family either had links with or worked somewhere (maybe ireland) called Coleville estate, (sp) or weston coleville - but like i said- most of what I have is unconfirmed snippets of information, that I have no idea on how to go further with them?........ Anything you could find would be an absolute bonus!! Many thanks.. ~sam~

Hi Sarah, Ancestry only has the same info as free bmd, , there are several after 1882 but nothing specific and I could'nt tell you who the parents are, you have to buy the certificate for that. Sue

Hmm, well it's a toss up between finding out the death was registered by someone you've never heard of or taking a chance with the marriage to John Worthington to see if it mentions her previous surnames (s). So me personally, if I was'nt sure of the 1907 death (especially if it's taken from bmd which is not fully indexed yet) then I'd go with the marriage. At least if it is the correct one you have some extra names to go with.

Hi Susan, Thanks for your help. I'll do more digging around that info and see where I get. I think what I will do is get the death cert for Sarah in 1907 and see who the death was registered by. Best Regards, Karen

Sue Report 31 Dec 2006 14:19

Karen, My guess would be that Albert married Sarah Ann Gill Maggie Branwood 1890 Jul-Aug-Sep Prescot Lancashire Sarah Ann Gill 1890 Jul-Aug-Sep Prescot Lancashire John Overton 1890 Jul-Aug-Sep Prescot Lancashire Albert Parr 1890 Jul-Aug-Sep Prescot Lancashire If i have the same as you, then they were living in Widnes in 1891 and Albert was a mineral water maker born halton Cheshire, Sarah born Widnes, Lancs. I cannot find any Albert in 1901 which comes remotely near, nor Sarah as a widow or single. So, assuming albert died but he's not showing up in the bmd indexes yet..there is a marriage here in Wigan in 1895. John Gerrard 1895 Apr-May-Jun Wigan Greater Manchester, Lancashire Sarah Gibson 1895 Apr-May-Jun Wigan Greater Manchester, Lancashire Sarah Parr 1895 Apr-May-Jun Wigan Greater Manchester, Lancashire John Worthington 1895 Apr-May-Jun Wigan Greater Manchester, Lancashire Sarah never married John Gerrard but, in 1901 John Worthington & his wife Sarah show up living with a Parr family. I think it's 63 Delph St, Wigan, lancs James Parr, h, s, 33, cotton spinner, Wigan Margaret, mother, 64, widow, housekeeper, Wigan William, brother, s, 25, cotton spinner, Wigan John Worthington, binlaw, m, 35, coal? labourer (barge), Wigan Sarah Worthington, sister, m, 29, Wigan Margaret, niece, 5, Wigan Elizbaeth, niece, 3, Wigan There is an Albert died an infant, born 1892, died 1892 in Cheshire, could be their son. This is pure guesswork of course, unless you know for sure that Sarah died a Parr in 1907. Just something to chew on, let me know what you think.

Thelma, You've got me on this one, can't find anything even similar. I can only find an unmarried Ann Bunclark in 1871 in Devon, with a niece and grandaughter. Maybe someone else will have better luck, sorry. Sue

Hi Susan, I wondered if you could help me trace the following in the 1901 census and a death certificate if possible: Albert Parr born 1854 (approx) Husband Sarah Parr born 1869 Wife Albert Howard Parr 1892 Son I've been able to find Albert and Sarah on the 1891 Census and found a death cert for Sarah in 1907 but I cannot find any record of the family in 1901 or a death cert for Albert Parr (senior). Any help would bemuch appreciated as I've hit a brick wall. Many Thanks, Karen

Hi Sarah, re Mary Meekins...Ancestry does not offer anymore marriages than freebmd as far as I know so this can be searched by anyone without a subscription, www.freebmd.co.uk . Did you want me to look in any particular census for Mary? Sue

Hi again Susan, I have just discovered George and his family as being part of mine. The Jane that I have is Jane Elizabeth Harwood, but I have just looked on the Marriage Index again and there is an Elizabeth Long - do wish they would fill in the Spouses name! Her age fits as Harwood is around 5 years young. Thank you so much for your help. I may be in touch again! Regards Cathy
