right then, they werent married in 1917, do you have the younger sons birth cert? this would state whether they married on that, if not, then i would suggest a trawl through the BMD index is the only way to go, it maybe that they married after grandad but before his brother, you need to find/get this cert, before you go any further, this will hopefully stop you from chasing the wrong family. it may seem silly but you need to go forwards before you can go backwards Julie

My granddad (James Claire Amer) was born Dec 1917. He had an older sister called Mary I Amer who was born 2nd quarter of 1911 and a younger brother called John R Amer who was born 2nd quarter in 1922! We know Mary married someone called Partington! Hope this helps, if you need any more let me know!

When did he marry? Do you have the cert? If so, what was his father's name? Without that info, you wouldn't be able to tell whether or not any person you found was the right one............. Reg

Hi James Henry Amer who married Margaret Anne CC Donaghy doesn't seem to exist!! There are seem to be no records of his birth or anything on the 1901 census! If anyone is doing a look up in London (think Pancras area) I would be greatful if they could look up James Amer. We think he was born between 1880 - 1895! Thanks Kirsteen
