Hi Marie, Your right, its now the only way to go. A long hard day but very fruitful as I am now a lot further along. It seemed such a task when I first started. Its always the most recent details that are the hardest to find. Going back several hundred years seemed a lot easier. My thanks to you both for all your help. Julie

Hi Julie It might be worth ordering birth cert for Michael. At least you'll get first name of father and an address. Marie

Hi Val, I have now seached the indexes from 41 to 62 and there is nothing for Lindley/Andrews or Burrows and no marriage for a lindley in Bangor so have to assume they married in scotland. I have not searched under Ida Andrews yet but I think Marie searched under that name. I know she worked in the royals royce factory when she went to glasgow sometime around 1941 and the next date I now have is 1946 when Michael was born in Bangor. My gran certainly travelled about. Hi Julie, Sorry about wasting time looking for Burrows but I have had friends who divorced and reverted back to their maiden name, especially when they remarried. But as she married Mr Ricketts as a Lindley it is most likely she married Mr Lindley as an Andrews or whatever her name was then. What year did she leave roughly? Maybe she was married in Scotland or maybe never married at all as you first suggested. Val

Just had another thought. As we have both looked and not found a marriage andrews/Lindley is it possible there was yet another marriage. I will look this time for a lindley marriage in bangor as well as looking for the name andrews. Julie

Hi Marie, Just found that one myself and there is one listed on this sight so have sent a message. I might be lucky but I would have thought that they would also have my gran listed and so far I am the only one. Will check the marriage list again for that time. Julie

Juelz Report 12 Aug 2006 14:36

Hi Marie Not yet. I have got as far back as 1941 and stopped as I remember my mother saying she was about 5 when her mother left. She went to Glasgow so its possible the marriage was there. My eyes are so crossed I may well have missed it so now I am seaching for the birth of a michael lindley. Julie

Juelz Report 12 Aug 2006 12:43

Hi Val, I have been trawling on ancestry in the other direction from 1975 and found David E Ricketts married a lindley in 1962. Checked under the Lindley and its an Ida. This must be the one. Now to find her second marriage to a Lindley. My eyes are crossed. Many thanks for your help. Julie

Hi Val, Thank you for trying, but would her next marriage not be listed under Andrews? Julie

Hi more complications. I searched 1951 back to 1946 marriages. Found a marriage for Ida Burrows in Jun 1946 and on 1837.com the spouse's name looks like TEYLOR Mansfield 7b 191 but on familyrelatives it is TAYLOR. Cannot find a marriage for TEYLOR to a Burrows on 1837 so assume it must be TAYLOR. Trawled through Jun 1946 , seven look ups, to find Lancelot G Taylor married to a Burrows Mansfield 7b 190 not 191. I would order the Burrows marriage cert from Ida's info Mansfield 7b 191 Jun 1946 and see who that Ida married. Val

michael and jennifer I think were born sometime in the late 40s ealy fifities. I have not looked through the marriages as I do not know where to start. It looks like this is the only option open to me and will take forever to troll through which is why I was hoping for a simplar solution. Julie

My mum is not around anymore to ask so what I have is snippetts of memory. Julie

Just thinking through your situation. Did David & Ida have children? How are you related to Ida? What other info do you have about Ida, did she have siblings etc? Val
