Dates / years would help. If its anytime around 1901 then we can search for the families on 1901 census. If your looking for info on births or marriages after 1920 then you need 1837online. Have you search the family tree's on this site ? to see if anyone else is researching the same families ? (Left hand side column - under FIND YOUR FAMILY - Search Family Trees -) Elaine ;-)

So your GF was born around 1924. You need to find his Birth entry on the 1837online website, send for the certificate, which will hopefully give his Fathers name. I'm surprised your GF hasn't got a copy of his Birth Cert .... if he has, then the chances are his Father isn't named .. which means you have very little chance of ever finding out the name. Elaine ;-)

Your grandfather must have an idea when he married irene. get the marriage cert for both fathers names as a first step

Jeanette Report 9 Jan 2006 10:22

reading it his mother was not married as she is Harriet Davis unless she married a cousin, so I don't think there will be a fathers name on it. Or is that her married name? like her mother is Tabberer her married or maiden name? Jeanette

From what we discussed last week, Her grandfather was illegitimate. His grandmother was married, hence Tabberer(Taberer/Taberrer/Taberah!). I'm sure I found a couple of possible Harriets in 1901 too...

Louise, you aren't really answering the questions.... even ''I dont know'' will help''! when was Norman born, and to whom/ do you have his birth cert?

Louise, The only connection between Davies and Tabberer is the one you mention. Exactly what are you asking for ? Are you looking for the marriage between Harriet/Mary Tabberer to unknown Davies .... (your GF grandparents) The information regarding your GF or his brother Norman ... bears no resemblance to the Davies/Tabberer connection ... which is what you are asking for in your thread header. Elaine ;-)

If you ask him, then someone can find his name on the index on 1837 and find his birth cert ref on it so you can send for it to see if any fathers name on there or find out when he married and order his wedding cert that might have it on . does he know his mothers date of birth? Jeanette

Louise, I HOPE your joking about the 'big' people. Congratulations on your very good weight loss, you deserve a medal ..... but hope you didn't do it just for them ! lol. Can we assume that 'maybe' his Mum was Mary Tabberer who married a Davies .....but that your GF never saw or knew his father ...? I'm surprised that your Grandfather had a brother if the parents weren't married. Having said that ... Norman's father may NOT be Bernard's father. I checked the birth indexes for Bernard's entry ....... to find out what his Mothers Maiden Name was .... but as I can't find his entry then I can't help further. Chances are, he's not 82 ..... he may have lost a few years along the way ... or gained some !! It's not unheard of... ! Knowing who Bernards son's are, doesn't help at all .. Elaine ;-)
