The only one to go with is ancestry - there is nothing to compare with it and at only £56 a year it is an absolute bargain - 24/7 coverage, all the images, plus lots more. If you get it you will soon learn that you are fortunate just to get a mistranscription of one letter! The enumerators collected the data (as heard, much of the time), returned the forms to the office and then someone else collated and rewrote them - hence so many mistranscriptions. Then modern transcribers type them out and you get more mistranscriptions!

i didnt realize it was that cheap.Thats something i will definatly look at getting,As trying to find various members of the family are proving a bit tricky.you start off with one name and end up somewhere else.I can see how it takes people years to trace thier family trees.

The other good site at about a fiver for 50 look ups is familyrelatives.org You can put in a name and a time span and bring up every match from 1866-1920 for births, marriages and deaths. I guess you must already know about familysearch.org which is free? and freebmd which is not complete but is free and did have your gran and grandads births.
