Unknown Report 3 Jul 2005 09:51

I have two seperate marriage certificates that state Father deceased ... and two census's to say that the Father is still alive. One in fact WAS dead ... but the family included his name on the census .... the other one died in 1917 ... 16 years AFTER the census was completed. It IS possible that dead people are included on census returns. It depends WHO gives the information. It IS possible that Fathers are stated as being deceased on marriage certs, when they are in fact still very much alive. Hope this info helps everyone concerned. Dancer x

*************************************************** Joyce the consensus of opinion, after much searching by me and others is this: You need to but a couple oF Certificates to help clarify things. 1) Name: Mellor, Joseph Rathbone Record Type: Births Quarter: June Year: 1894 District: West Derby County: Lancashire Volume: 8b Page: 480 It may or may not give the same info as Ada's ( i think it may say something different) --------------------------------------------- and this marriage cert Name: Bassindale, Elizabeth Record Type: Marriages Quarter: September Year: 1890 District: West Derby County: Lancashire Volume: 8b Page: 801 * before we can say that the two sisters were brought up in a different name to Bassindale, we need to establish that this was Ada's sister ................................................................................. Many people have given this thought over the last few days and think we have a sensible suggestion,(not just me) Jess x
