Hi Kate Thanks for all your help with this. It just seems that they just vanished for a few years and then popped back into life again. I know that Edwin and Sarah were married in Middlesex and died in Middlesex. On the 1881 it shows that they have a daughter Hannah Wilmshurst born about 1853. However before 1881 and after 1881 she seems to have vanished. I can only think that maybe their names have been transcribed wrong. Thanks once again Sarah

Hi Sarah Started by looking for Edwin in the 1861. The only Edwin Wilmhurst from Sussex was visiting the Hall family in Mansfield, Notts (funnily enough not a million miles from me) It lists him as a 28 year old widower, born Chichester, Sussex. Have got above Edwin in 1871 also, living in Retford, Notts. Married with wife, Annie and a son Thomas born 1870, also born Retford. So probably not the one you want. Next I looked for Thomas in the 1861. There is only one Thomas Wilmhurst in the 1861Census. He was born in Westminster, Middx but the birth year is 1841! He is lodging with the Yealfa (Ancestry transcription) family. His occupation is Boot Closer so I don’t think they got the age wrong. Have checked every angle I can think of but just can’t find them. Wonder if they went under another name. I have a rellie who regularly changed his name from Haysman to Hamilton and back again! Sorry not to bring better news, might be worth putting out a general request and seeing if someone else can take a fresh look at it. Sometimes when you’ve been searching a while you can’t see the wood for the trees. If you do want the info for any of the above just let me know. Good luck Kate J

Hi Kate Could you please look up a Thomas WILMSHURST born abt 1855 Westminster Middlesex. Sometimes with the middle name of John or Henry and he was a school master. I only know his parents names Edwin born abt 1810 Sussex and Sarah born abt 1815 Surrey. However he was one of 15 children and i dont know any of the other siblings. He married Emily Truman in 1885 but it seems that on the 1901 census he had 2 children but i think there could have been more. Please could you check the 1861 , 1871 and 1891 for these . Thank you Sarah

Hi Pamela Sorry this took a while. This family are being a bit elusive. As you can imagine there are quite a lot of Greens out there. I have found a Robert Walter Green in 1891. The transcript gives his age as 49 but I think the image says 40. This puts his age about right to be G Grandfather. Sorry if you already have this. I was looking for a starting point to work back from but failed miserably L Source information: RG12/2404 Registration district: Aston Sub registration district: Deritend ED, institution, or vessel: 15 Folio: 36 Page: 19 GSU Number: 6097514 Green, Eliza Elizabeth abt 1852 Birmingham Wife Aston Warwickshire Green, Elizabeth abt 1874 Birmingham Daughter Aston Warwickshire Green, Ellen abt 1881 Birmingham Daughter Aston Warwickshire Green, Emily abt 1882 Birmingham Daughter Aston Warwickshire Green, James abt 1878 Birmingham Son Aston Warwickshire Green, Joseph abt 1883 Birmingham Son Aston Warwickshire Green, Robert Walter abt 1842 Birmingham Head Aston Warwickshire Green, Samuel abt 1888 Birmingham Son Aston Warwickshire Green, William abt 1888 Birmingham Son Aston Warwickshire -- I’ve also found what may be his widow and children (although there are a few discrepancies – James becomes Jane) in the 1901C. I also checked for Robert Greens with a Birmingham connection but couldn’t find him. I then looked under the name Green (no forename) with Aston but again nothing. Very Frustrating. Sorry. If you do want the images for the above them PM me with your email and I’ll send it on. Kate :)
