Hi Darren The 1901 Northumberland census is not yet available via ancestry. You could try the national archives site though. Nikki

Hi Nicola Any chance you could look up Charles Burton 1845 and Mary Burton (nee Prentice) 1850. Children found on the 1871 and 1881 census, Charlotte, Charles, George, Arthur, Alfred. They were living in Stebondale Street, Poplar . I know that there was an Ernest born 1882. I'm wondering if there are any more children and were they still at the same address. Thanks for you offer Regards Helen

Hi Nicola Thanks for looking, I don't think these are them. On the 1881 census Charles W Burton Head M 36 Poplar 1871 Southney Norfolk Mary Burton Wife M 31 Poplar 1871 Great Beiddon Essex Charlotte Daur 14 Poplar 1871 3 Charles W Son 12 Poplar 1871 2 all Poplar George W Son 10 Poplar 1871 6m Arthur Son 8 Poplar Alfred J Son 1 Poplar I know that by 1901 census Charlotte was married to a Brown and Arthur was their boarder. Maybe Mary died between 1882 when Ernest was born and 1891. I'll have to keep searching. Thanks for help again, it is very kind of you. Regards Helen

Thanks Nicola Richard would have been nearer 11 than 7 but its the nearest I've got so far! Do you know how I can find out where and when - and if!- he got married to Rebecca Dobson from Whitehaven- - he said they were married by 1881 census, by which time they were both about 20 thanks again Julia

Hi Yvonne Have searched high & low for Emma but with no joy, have looked at both the 1871 census & death records. There's nothing even close. Sorry & good luck!

Hi Nicola I hoe you don't mind me asking, but I am thinking of becoming a memeber of Ancestry but there was a lot of bad publicity about it at one time. Could I ask what you think about it and whether you feel it is worth the money, also other than the census have you found much relevant infomation I know I joined something a few years ago and they had virtually notihing on the 6 families and areas I was researching, would appreciate a users advice Many thanks Maureen

Nikki Report 24 Feb 2005 12:31

Hi Maureen I have found ancestry invaluable, I spend hours everyday on it. I mainly use the census info but I think it depends on which part of the country your rellies are from as some parts have more coverage than others. You could always try one of their pay per view sessions which I think is about £6 & is valid for 1 week. Nikki

Hello Nicola Very kind offer thanks Can you please have a look at my grandfather in 1901 census. William Edward KAY, born abt 1895 in Wigan Lancashire. Had brother Roy and sis Ann or Annie. Father we believe was also called William Kay and from Bolton or Wigan. Many thanks Brian in Lancs

Nikki

Nikki Report 24 Feb 2005 14:27

Hi Evan Can't find anything for you. There are only 4 William Kays listed with Wigan Births in 1901 but all are too old for your purposes. William Kay 40 Wigan, Lancashire, England Pauper Inmate Chorley Lancashire William Kay 16 Wigan, Lancashire, England Son Pemberton Lancashire William Kay 28 Wigan, Lancashire, England Head Standish with Langtree Lancashire William J Kay 17 Wigan, Lancashire, England Son Ince in Makerfield Lancashire There are no Roy Kay's listed at all so I'm a bit stuck. If you have any further information let me know, I'm more than happy to keep looking for you. Best wishes Nikki
