Hi Leon, I think this might be the other Silas Riddle that appears on the censuses. There are only 2 of them. Just my luck that it's the wrong one. Will save it just in case. Thanks for looking. Best wishes, Crista

Hi Leon. Could you look up Iris Walmsley for me please... All I know is that she was born after 1915 in the Dewsbury reg. dist. of Ossett...... and before 1934. She also died in that area as a young woman (?) Sorry to be so vague but am at a loss as to how to find her. Thanks Anne

Please, please, please can you look for the marriage for William VODEN? Free BMD gives him but not the name of his bride! and we won't be going to a records office or the FRC for a while, and we really, really need to know her name. Here he is on free BMD Marriages Jun 1887 VODEN William Plymouth 5b 525 Thank you very much, in hope. Joy

Leon Report 23 Feb 2005 10:50

Hi Joy, Crista is correct. I found the marriage on Ancestry but no other name given. I picked up a William Voden Plymouth on the 1901 census. married to Ellen born in Beil Aston Devon with three kids, can give you those details. Sorry not able to pin his wife. Leon

Thanks, Crista, and Leon. That'll teach me to get over-excited!! We have all the other details, thanks, Leon, for thinking of that. Such an unusual surname it's usually easy to find them - except on the 1901 census where they were originally transcribed as Roden!! It will have to stay on our list of next lookups when we go to the FRC. Thank you. Joy

Joy, I think this is the William and Ellen marriage for the couple listed in 1901: Marriages Mar 1890 Simmons Ellen Stoke D. 5b 540 STEED Laura Stoke D 5b 540 Symons Charles Edward Stoke D. 5b 540 Voden William John Stoke D. 5b 540 Crista

Joy Report 23 Feb 2005 12:28

Thanks very much, Crista, for looking for that, but it is the marriage of William's in June quarter 1887 that we need. We have traced back the Simmons family quite a long way but I do appreciate you taking the trouble to look for them and to tell me :) Joy

Leon, Thank you so much for the marriage date of Pearce it is a great help for my tree. I do have another question if you still have units to give away. Miss Butt had a son, Cyril, born c. 1938, this too could have been the district of Warminster or Trowbridge Wiltshire. Would be very grateful for this. Does it give you the names of the parents or will a copy of birth certificate be necessary for this information. Thank you so much. Elizabeth
