You found a Samuel whose birthplace was given as St Hayward, Staffs (that's what you wrote anyway!). There is no such place, but there is somewhere in Staffs called Great Haywood. I am suggesting that could be the birthplace.

Just a suggestion: Albert Laird 24 Norfolk Kings Lynn London Lee Bank Clerk

As long as the offer extends to air-freighting a cask of Youngs Bitter to Perth Australia, I'm up for the challenge! So when was he born & where, your Horace??

Unknown Report 10 Feb 2005 12:36

LOL - what a pair of stars ! It just proves that: 'once you've eliminated the impossible*, whatever's left - no matter how improbable has to be an option' *Impossible is that to err is human and to really err you need to be a transcriber ... Hey many thanks both, and ®ichard, nice work on the birth. Ahgain I'd totally discounted it as there seemed to be no way he would be associated with Staffs ! Really grateful - now GO AND FIND MY GRANDAD Horace Albert Laird Davison in 1901 census, if you can do that, I'll buy the beers ! Cheers !
