Hi Linda, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou! How lovely for me that you willingly gave some of your own research time to look for my details. I really do appreciate it. I live in New Zealand so getting to Record Offices is pretty much a no-go as you can imagine. It's only through generous people like yourself that I've managed to get my family tree to the point where it is now. So once again. Thankyou very much. Kind regards...Zoe

You certainly have marriage in that church so it could well be the one you would expect the children to be christened in. Another mystery! Linda

Hi Alice, The wedding of Thomas and Mary Artisis as follows. ELLIS Thomas 11 5 18 ARTISS Mary Lakenham St John & all Saints Lak. According to IGI Thomas was born Lakenham in 1798. I don't have anything about being baptised. So it could well be the other church. Gail

Gail If you look on this site you can see from the history that the parishes were quite complicated . Do you think All saints and St Johns were once two parishes and that I could have been looking in the wrong one? In fact maybe I should have been looking a t St, Marks? http://www2.env.uea.ac.uk/gmmc/stpaul/nfgrouphis(.)html remove brackets Have just read somewhere that st Marks was built in 1844 That could be why there were no records from St, Johns Where did you get info about christenings? Could be just looking in wrong church? Alice

Brilliant re Jonas' burial Pat, many thanks. Yes, his father was 92 when he died, his mother 86! Unbelievable ages amongst his lot considering the life then. As I said in the 1851 he was still working as an ag lab at 76!! Then his son goes to London to work in Stepney and died aged 50 - shows you that Norfolk is the place to live, eh?

Beverly Lots of the records for Walsingham had been burned but I did look look briefly at Fakenham and could not spot them. However time was ticking on and I was in a rush. Recorfs were on microfiche and machinery and I don't always mix! However I looked at 1881 marriages and back a few years - no joy. I thought it would have been a good idea to look up birh as that would give fathers details perhaps - bu tiiiii ran out of time. willing to look again next time I am on holiday or one Sat morning Alice

Gail looked at Lakenham in 1798 he was not there- sorry, I could only find the church of St. John- don't know if it was the right one but I guess it was. Records for 1927 were not there. Il'll look later and see if there were 2 churches of similar name but then they should have had records anyway. Hope I can be more helpful sometime, alice

Pat Had never heard of Freebridge and could not find record book so was going to ask assistant, however she was busy and at the end I was in a rush and left without asking! I have googled and see it is near Kings Lynn I was looking round Norwich area records. Will keep your details and be sure to ask when I go next time. What's really annoying is that I'm sure yours would have been easy as you have all the info! Really sorry Alice

Paula I really really wanted to find the marriage for you as you had been so helpful to me, but although I was sure I was in the right place - no correct names. The writing was very old and faded and some slightly illegible. I believe you can see the originals or sometimes there is a transcript. If I go again I will find out more. Sorry I couldn't bee more helpful let me know if you want another look up as office is open on sat morning and I could nip in for an hour before I go into town Mad as ever! Alice

If you get a chance - you look inundated already, wonder if you could have a quick look for burial of Jonas Horstead in Hethersett between 1851 -60 please. He was 76 and still working as an ag lab in the 1851 census. Many thanks.
