Ian's aunt told us who ian's grandad's brother's and sisters were!

Ian's father died in 2002, which is when i started this! Ian's aunt Janet has been a great help and provide a lot of information for us.

Ian's father and Janet were Ronald's children, Ronald was William Hale and Uiley's son.

Does that help?
Thanks
Ceri
PS Ignore the years of birth etc beginning to think that they are wrong except for Ronald's!

OK Ladies!!

I have managed to find my grandads and nans marriage certificate, this states that my grandad's (Ronald Hale born 1919 in B.Stortford) father was the following:
William Albert Hale - his occupation was a Maltster

My grandad and nan were married on the 5th July 1941, at the time Ronald was living at a different place to his new wife (possibly living with his parents still) the address on marriage cert is Chesterfield, 12 Ford Hill, Little Hadham, Herts

However there marriage took place in Suffolk (Deben)

Does this help at all?
Thanks

Also, i have found Horace (Ronald's brother) marriage to Winifred, and also Percy's (Ronald's brother) marriage to Emily which are as follows:

Marriage Record 2nd Qtr 1938
Horace Frederick Hale to Winifred M Willmott @B.Stortford, vol 3a, Page 2971

Marriage record 3rd Qtr 1933
Percy L Hale to Emily R Fordham @ B.Stortford, vol 3a, page 2783

Does this help?
Thanks

Hi Ceri

No not really, what we need is the 1911 to find out where William and Uiley were born & how old they were

I don't think that William & Ada born before the marriage are siblings of the 3 boys, and the only way to know for sure would be to get Ada's B/C

Still cant find him even with a middle name :0(((

Births for the other 2 brothers though;
Horace Frederick Hale Bishops Stortford july qtr 1907 3a 769
Percy L Hale Bishops Stortford july qtr 1911 3a 1514.

Have looked through births 1900-1907 for William Albert..no sign.

Oh ...there is a birth for Ada Isobel Hale 1895 Bishops Stortford, but cant find her on a1901...grrr!!

Jane

I think im confusing you, sorry!
William Albert Hale, was Ronald, Percy, Horace, Ada and William Hale's father (also Uiley's husband)

(note father and son both William) William junior went on to marry Dorothy Squires, where as his father (William senior) married Uiley Miles.

Furthermore, i have Ada Hale on a 1901 census but she appears to be living with an uncle!!
this is it below:
1901 Census
Barrells Down,Bishop Stortford
Walter Smith Head 42 Carpenter b Stansted
Rhoda Smith Wife 50 b Lower Hadham
Walter E Smith Son 21 Under gardener b B Stortford
John Smith Son 19 Bricklayers Lab b B Stortford
William C Smith Son 17 Domestic gardener b B Stortford
Mary A Smith Daur 13 b Henham,Essex
Ada I Hale Niece 5 Scholar b B Stortford

What do you think?

Ceri,
I meant to say I'd looked for both William Albert the father and William the sonn...sorry!

As for the Ada...we never knew if she was yours anyway, that was the nearest I found being in Bishops Stortford.
Have to go to work in a minute, but will look later x

Hows this for a theory;
The family I found next to the Miles on 1891 I think are your Hales;
In 1881 in Little Haddam, all born there too;
Thomas Hale 1837
Esther 1836 wife
Ada 1877 dau
Albert 1880 son
Alfred 1873 son
Alice 1864 dau
Florence 1875 dau
George 1867 son
John 1865 son
Thomas 1878 son
Willie 1871 son...on image it says 10 months so he was born 1881!!

On 1891 they are next door to Miles family;
Thomas, Esther, Florence, George, Thomas and William.

On 1901;
Thomas, Esther and William.

There is a birth for a Ada Florence R Hale in jan qtr 1904 Ware.
If your grandfather had a sister Ada, this one fits better. After the 1902 Marriage of William and Uiley...and a few names of Williams' sisters?

Must go I'm late x

Willie Hale is 10 (not 10m) on the 1881 - the enumerator has put the wrong ages and then had to correct them so it says 10 followed by 14 which has been crossed out.

Andy

Have just looked at 1891 and William is now 10.
Could Willie have died and they gave Albert the first name William????
