Hi Lindsey

Possible marriage for William Wilson and Matilda Allen:

Sep - Dec 1854 Liverpool 8b 308

In 1851 there are a few William Wilson's around the area but the following is quite a good match as his father is a shoemaker and he is a gilder. They are living at 11 Grimfield Street.

Does any of this seem feasible or do you think I'm way off track?

Best Wishes

Hi Lindsey

And again in 1861!

Esther Wilson
Age: 6
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1855
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: William
Mother's Name: Matilda
Gender: Female
Where born: Liverpool, Lancashire, England

Civil Parish: Liverpool
Ecclesiastical parish: St Martin
Town: Liverpool
County/Island: Lancashire
Country: England

Condition as to marriage: View Image

Registration district: Liverpool
Sub-registration district: St Martin

Household schedule number: 206

Esther Wilson 6
George Wilson 2
Matilda Wilson 30
Samuel Wilson 2 Mo
Thomas Wilson 4
William Wilson 28

Possible theories here are that William Hignett was second husband and original was William Wilson? Bootmaker to car dealer isn't impossible but a little unusual so perhaps it's two people?

Hi Lyndsey

They are Wilson again in 1871 so I'm thinking Wilson wasn't an error. Any ideas where the Wilson may come from?

About 90% he was born Lanchester he died in 1926 age 42, i have noticed that there's quite a few William Henry Strikes in the surrounding years but i do think that is the right one.

Lyndsey Report 21 Oct 2007 13:58

Hi,
He is on the 1891 census records as living in 123 (I think) Opie Street, Everton, Liverpool and in 1881 they were living in 4 Kew Street - but that does not seem to show up on any computerised census records, but this is the family that we need further information on! Hope this helps.
Lyndsey.

Hi Anthony

Are you 100% certain that William Henry Strike born 1884 is the man that you are looking for?

Thanks

Hi Gillian

Is this them on the 851 census?

Name: Joseph Neal
Age: 37
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1814
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Elizabeth
Gender: Male
Where born: Eaton, Bedfordshire, England

Civil Parish: Harrold
Town: Harrold
County/Island: Bedfordshire
Country: England

Street address:

Occupation:

Condition as to marriage:

Disability: View Image

Registration district: Bedford
Sub-registration district: Riseley
ED, institution, or vessel: 5b
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 79
Household Members: Name Age
Anna Neal 3
Charles Neal 4
Elizabeth Neal 36
Esthel Neal 12
Fredrick Neal 14
Joseph Neal 37

If so they are likely to have married before 1841 as their eldest child looks to be 14. That would suggest that they may have married on or before 1837 when marriages were not registered.

This looks like the same family in 1841:

Name: Joseph Neal
Age: 25
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1816
Gender: Male
Where born: Bedfordshire, England

Civil Parish: Pavenham
Hundred: Willey
County/Island: Bedfordshire
Country: England

Street address:

Occupation: View Image

Registration district: Bedford
Sub-registration district: Harold
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Elizth Neal 27
Ezra Neal 1 Mo
Frederic Neal 4
Joseph Neal 25

Do you think that these are yours?

Many thanks

Lyndsey Report 21 Oct 2007 12:37

Hi Andrea,
Wondered if you could help me with the following please:

Currently researching my Father's family and stuck at his Great Granddad. His name is William Hignett, was born around 1831 (give or take a year) and died in 1891 (approx) - born in Lancashire, England and died in West Derby, Liverpool. His occupation was a car proprietor. Was married to a lady called Matilda. I do not have her maiden name, unfortunately and this is where my search has ended. What I do know is that they were married between 1855-1857 and possibly in Belfast.
Thanks in advance,
Lyndsey.

All census and some Durham parish records.

Please give as much information as you have.

Also, could I kindly request that no one PM's me. I won't be able to deal with requests after today so there is no point in adding to the thread from tomorrow onwards.

Many thanks
