Thanks for your info, I have found the same census return results as you Margaret.

Patricia, I don't think she married, I have tried looking for all the alberts born in 1869 with no surname specified and none fit.

I have Albert's mariage certificate and the father is listed as George Webb, Brass Foundry (this is in1913) so wonder how he knew his father when he was born illegitamately in a workhouse and why mother and father share the same surname??

Have hit a massive brick wall here.... :(
Any info or thoughts greatly appreciated.

I am trying to locate Mary Webb Born c 1849/1850 She was an inmate of the Union Workhouse in Ipswich in 1869 where she gave birth to her son, my great grandfather, Albert George Webb. There is no father listed on the birth certificate.

By 1871 They are lodging with a Widow called Ann Church and her two sons William and Edward in Ipswich.

Then there is no mention of either her or Albert on any census thereafter.

If anyone has any information, please send me a PM

Thanks in advance

Lin
