Hi Marie -- you need to add a surname to your post. Patrick ___?

Probably you posted it while you were looking at a "looking for (surname)" board. The system will only show the surname if someone is looking specifically at that board, but you might want to include it so that someone looking more generally will see it and maybe have something for you.

Hmm, Marie!

There still doesn't seem to be a surname in your post. Patrick *who*? (I assume it's important, since his children would have that surname.)

Why don't you just post a reply to me, and give Patrick's full name? ;)

(The problem probably is that you're posting in a particular surname list -- but we out here in the big Trying to Find board can't see the surname for that list. This problem isn't one of you having no idea -- it's one of GR giving people no guidance whatsoever.)

It may be that people reading your post on the general Trying To Find board, and not just on the WARD surname list, could help you, Marie.

If you look over on the left side of your screen, you will see if your view is being "filtered" by surname Ward. If you click "remove this filter", you'll see the general board where your post also appears. On that board, there is no surname attached to your message. Stupid system? You betcha.

Here's my recommendation!

Delete this thread (you can do that by clicking on "delete" in the bottom of your first post in the thread).

Start a whole new thread. Don't call it "father's family". Call it:

"Patrick Ward b 5 June 1909/10, possibly Galloway"

Then put your message -- preferably divided up into understandable paragraphs like this:

____________________________

looking for info on familey of my father PATRICK d.o.b 5 June1909/10 may have been born in Galloway.

Lived in glasgow
came to England during the last war
was a steelbender by profession.

He had several brothers & sisters
one called Ria
onother Kate
and one called Sally WITH MARRIED NAME OF ROACH she lived in Bermuda.

I believe he may have been married twice and may have had a son called John from his first marriage

Then it might do better at catching the eye of someone who has info or can help.

I'm not much help, myself, with Irish or Scottish records or people, or people born after 1920. But you never know who might be able to give you a hand -- or recognize the names if they're easier to see, like that!

-- Also, Marie, have you searched trees here at GR? There are a dozen people with one or another Patrick Ward in their trees who could possibly be yours -- have you contacted them all? Worth a try!
