Yes, I think it could be registered in another area. I found that my own parents' marriage was registered in another area from the one where they married. I don't know why. Coincidentally also in Yorkshire.
I see there's a Thomas Higgins registered June Q 1887, Sheffield and a Thomas Ernest Higgins registered Mar. Q 1888, Pontrefact. Any chance?

Hello,
I am stumped!
My grandfather Thomas Higgins was born Rotherham Yorkshire 1887
Father Leonard Higgins
Mother Annie Butler.
GRO does not have a reocrd of his birth.
Could it be recorded in another area?
