Find Ancestors

I have found Amy R Whitby lodging, aged 9 with the Newton family in Liverpool in 1881. I believe she was born in Liverpool in 1872, the illegitimate daughter of Rebecca Whitby. She then disappears until 1897 when I think she married Michael Tait.
What happened to Amy R between 1881 and 1897. Where was her mother and what is the connection, if any to the Newtons?

Can't find Rebecca in 1871 so could have married or died but this could be her in 1861.

Amy could be 'Boarded out' under Poor Law Regulations. If children were orphans they could be boarded out with a family rather than go in a workhouse. Also I see that the family she was with in 1881 that the wife Eliza Newton's occupation was
'Registry Office for Servants' (Instit). Perhaps she knew Amy's mother and took pity on her?
I have a great aunt who was boarded out in 1901 from Lincolnshire to Southampton.

June, thank you for all the work you put in.If Evan was married to Ann in 1871 then I presume Eliza is his second wife and not the mother of the children. What a can of worms. Wonder whose house they moved into?
Once again thanks for all the help. I hope Amy R did marry Michael Tait and live happily ever after.
Perhaps need to see if she appears on the 1901 census as 'Amy R Tait'.
