The marriage certificate will give the name of both fathers and their occupations.

Then you should get the birth certificate to get the mother's maiden name.


Certificates are the only way to be sure you have the correct people.

Information from censuses is only educated guesswork.

I wonder if he gave the wrong name at his marriage???

This is the only one showing for Bethnal Green, and there is no Alfred John at all except for one born in June quarter 1843 in Hertford.
