	I'm no good on Australian stuff except for the NSW BMDs on line, so you're on your own there! Duh, it was NSW. So this certificate should get you info about her: 2895/1907 BIRD ROBERT C SCHAPIRA ELIZABETH J WOOLLAHRA But the birth cert as above would get you more.

	Can you provide your grandfather's name? Date/place of their marriage? The marriage certificate should give her father's name as well, and might give an indication of where she was living at the time of the marriage. There are a couple of possibilities: Name: Elisabeth Amalia Schapira Year of Registration: 1901 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: St Giles County: London, Middlesex Volume: 1b Page: 1131 + William Frederick Carr-Hill or Arthur Robertson. Somewhat confusing, as that bride also seems to have been recorded as Ely Schapira. Name: Lizzie Schapira Year of Registration: 1906 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Mile End Old Town County: London, Middlesex Volume: 1c Page: 868 + Lewis Perkins or Henry Harris. Or maybe: Name: Julia Shapiro Year of Registration: 1910 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Whitechapel County: London, Middlesex Volume: 1c Page: 503 + Jacob W Goldstein or Benjamin Isaacs, if she'd adjusted her surname a little. Aha. I should have asked first. None of them her. ;)

Member Since: May 2006 Posts: 5 Send Message	Have just seen your added note. I don't know. All I do know is that at some time the family or maybe just her, must have emigrated to Australia where she met and married my grandfather Robert Chisholm Bird in 1907 in New South Wales.

	Here she is: Name: Elizabeth Julia Shapira Year of Registration: 1878 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Hampstead County: Greater London, London, Middlesex Volume: 1a Page: 627 The spelling error is in the original, so you can just go ahead and order it with that info as is. Adding: Where she got to after that is a mystery! Virtually all the Shapira / Schapira-s in 1901, for instance, are shown as born in Austria or Russia.
