Please Please can anyone help? I am searching for two ladies both born in the 1830s but from my information and Census searching not from the same family but possibly connected.(Cousins) Well Maybe? Matilda was born in the 1830s Deptford (I have her in the 1841 Census)but I really need to find her in the 1851 Census. Can anyone help with this one please. Sometime in the 1850s she married my Great Great Grandfather William Whitehead. William can be found in the 1851 Census unmarried a Soldier in the R/A Liverpool. (Born about 1819/21 Falkirk Stirlingshire)Matilda died in Woolwich 1866. Ok Amelia Plant also born 1830s County Kerry Ireland also married William Whitehead in Woolwich sometime between 1866 until her death aged 40 years in Woolwich 1879. I am not able to find Amelia in any Census before 1871. So far no Marriage Refs have been found for either of the Plant ladies to William Whitehead. William Whitehead retired from the R/A about 1866 and continued to reside in Woolwich until his death. If anyone can help with my Plant ladies it would be so greatly appreciated. There are three of us searching down this path with no success so far. All Genes members. |

1871 for William & Amelia. Eldest child born Ireland therefore they could well have married there. Note William is born Kent & there is a name correction. |

Thankyou for joining in Claire and June. Yes they are mine and I have this already. My Great Great Grandfather was born in Falkirk Stirlingshire and not Woolwich although he did live in Woolwich for a number of years and also died there. I have his Royal Artillery Records and they clearly state he was born in Scotland. |

Claire yes you could be correct at William and Matilda for a possible marriage in Ireland as the three oldest children of theirs were born there. But William must have married Amelia in Woolwich sometime around 1866. I sometimes wonder if these two ladies were indeed sisters? Its strange one is born in Ireland and the other in Deptford. |

I'd say she was possibly in Ireland if supposition is the other marriage took place there AND that they are possibly related |

I am not convinced that the Matilda on the 1841 is the correct one. She was born c1833 whereas the one who died in 1866 was born c1838. |

Hello Lady, maybe William Whitehead was Amelia's second husband...if so we would be looking for a different name at the time of the marriage to him. |

I do hope someone is awake and reading this nudged thread of mine. All of the above is correct but I believe due to the age of Amelia when she married my Great Great Grandfather which would be in her 30s I would think this was a second marriage for them both. Can anyone help list the marriages from 1866 to 1879 Greenwich/Woolwich for William Whitehead to an Amelia? Any surname. |
