Find Ancestors

Printed off the 1875 marriage of Robert Baxter to Elizabeth but unfortunately, I still cannot read the maiden names of the mothers.

Fresh eyes please.

I have tried to find the birth of Robert Baxter about 1851 with no success. I was going to order his birth record to get confirmation on his mother's maiden name. I cannot see the wood for the trees though. Anyone able to help please?

I have just tried to do a birth search on Elizabeth Christine Kerr and also Christine Elizabeth Kerr and was not at all successful.

For Robert it might be worth trying to find his death to see if mum's name is the same

I've gone back and checked the census records. I cannot find a Robert Baxter of any age with parents Robert and Elizabeth. Could it be the registrar got it wrong and put Elizabeth instead of Christina??

Am now totally confused.

Have got the marriage of Robert Baxter to Elizabeth Smith - they married 15 Jan 1875. He was aged 23 and she was aged 21

Now for the confused bit.

His parents are down as Robert & Elizabeth Baxter, I cannot read the mother's maiden name.

Her parents are down as William & Catherine Smith, again I cannot read the mother's maiden name.

So if Robert's mother is Elizabeth then the census info Andrew gave me cannot be right?

Will look on Scotlands People, I have ordered Scottish marriage certificates before and they give full names of both the mother & father.

There are plenty of other Robert Baxters, but this is the only one that fits date and place of birth. Marriage cert should have fathers name, unless Scottish ones are different to England and Wales.

I suppose what I need to to is to locate and order the marriage of Robert Baxter (30 on the 1881) and Elizabeth Smith (27 on the 1881) to get confirmation of parents names. Any ideas?
