If anyone is visiting the records office at Bradford, West Yorkshire, would they be so kind as to look up the birth of Hannah Duxberry born Bingley abt 1802, as I am struggling to find her birth/parents as I am out of the area and think she must fit into my tree at some point

The Hannah Duxberry born 1806 on the 41 census seems to be a widow. It has been written in the occupation column then crossed out. She's with William 19, Thomas 17, George 14, Mary 12, Susannah 4 and John 2.

Sorry for not replying sooner thanks for your help so far. Duxberry was her maiden name she married John Anderson Oct 14th 1822, but for some reason cannot find her parents, think she was born abt 1802,

...... so all that was not useful!

As she was born before September 1837, there are no official records, so you are down to parish records.

Unless you can get to the parish, then you are limited to what you can find on the IGI, although more and more parish records are gradually being transcribed and coming on line.


I have deleted all the information that I found on Hannah, maiden name Duxberry. No point in leaving it on here to confuse you and others.

Do you know if this could be her on the 1841 Census??? That census does not tell you where people were born, just whether they were born in or out of county. The age of adults is also out by 5 years, for most people!

Note that the transcribed name has already been notified as wrong.

Did you know that a Sharon Costigan has Hannah Duxberry in her tree on Rootsweb?

... this is a free site, just go to www.rootsweb.com, enter Hannah Duxberry in the Rootsweb search boxes to the left.

One hit comes up.

Click on that.


She, however, does not have Hannah's parentage, and only has John Unknown, but she does seem to have full information on the offspring, and where Hannah died and was buried.

That is her on the 1841 Census, I am touch with Sharon who lives abroad so I am trying to find Hannahs Parents for both of us, its very frustrating knowing the marriage, children etc, but struggling over the parents
