so that doesn't help!

"causing the body to be buried" apparently is an indication that the informant was not a relation, but the owner of a nursing home, or some such person.

That does imply that he was not married at the time of death (ie wife could have predeceased him) and there were no children at hand.

Have you checked the address to see if it might have been a hospital or care home?

I'm trying to think of ways and means of finding him, and cutting down the search area!

If the address in 1924 was his parents' address, then this implies that he was living at home. To me, this could mean that if he married it was after 1924 and before 1970.

We need MUCH more information to find him!

Where was he born?

Where did he live?

Was the marriage likely to have happened here or in his putative wife's area?

Have you any idea what his wife might have been called?

Did he have any children? When was the eldest born?

You do realise don't you that any search for a marriage (or birth or death) between about 1920/25 and 1983 involves searching quarter by quarter, year by year through the Complete Index of bmds on ancestry.

And THEN repeating the search to find the full name of the other partner.
