Look what Ancestry has just released.


Australian Electoral Rolls, 1901 – 1936
This historic collection contains all Australian electoral rolls (excluding South Australia) from 1901 to 1936 and lists detailed information about millions of early twentieth century Australian citizens enrolled to vote including surname, given name, gender, address and occupation.



Census of New South Wales, 1828
The first census of New South Wales was taken in 1828. Censuses were taken periodically in the colony thereafter. However, few of them still exist. The 1828 census is the only complete Australian historical census that has survived to present day.
The 1828 census was taken in November of that year. Its purpose was to record all inhabitants of the colony, both convict and free. Inhabitants are listed alphabetically according to surname. Information recorded in the census includes:

Name of inhabitant
Age
Free or bond
Ship name on which arrived
Year arrived
Sentence
Religion
Employment
Residence
District
Total number of acres
Number of acres cleared
Number of acres cultivated
Number of horses
Number of horned cattle
Number of sheep


Sands Directories: Sydney and New South Wales, Australia, 1861-1933

This database contains a collection of the Sand’s Directories for Sydney and New South Wales, Australia from 1861-1933. Directories were NOT issued in 1862, 1872, 1874, 1878, or 1881.

The alphabetical name section is the most useful part of the directory to the genealogist. This section lists the names of each head of household and their districts of residence. Often their occupations and/or street addresses will also be listed.
