Hi,Please can anyone help me? I am currently researching my gt gt grandfather and have come to a complete stand still. This is the problem....... He was named Michael Price and he was born about 1822-23 in either Madeley or Coalbrookdale Shropshire. On the 1841 census he is residing with a couple called Martin and Ann Martin in Madeley at this point the couple were both about 75 years old and no sign of Michaels parents(all I know is that his father was named William Price). Then in 1852 he married in Wolverhampton and Ann Martin is a witness at his marriage(by now she would be aged mid 80s) which makes me think this lady was a very important person in his life. Therefore I am thinking maybe his parents died when he was young and this could be his mothers parents. Please can someone look for me to see if they can find a marriage between William Price and ????? Martin about 1815-1820. I would be really very gratefull for any help. I have looked everywhere possible and cant find anything relating to the family before the 1841 census.
Thankyou
Regards Pauline

Hi Pauline

The only Michael I could find with a father called William Price, anywhere in the British Isles, between 1815 and 1825 was this one.

Michael Price baptised 22 June 1821 Mitcheldean Gloucestershire, parents William Price & Elizabeth.

Regarding the Martin family of Madeley I found the following information on them.

Baptisms:-
James Martin bapt 18 April 1805 Madeley parents Martin Martin & Ann
Ann Martin bapt 18 April 1805 Madeley parents Martin Martin & Ann
Maria Martin bapt 18 April 1805 Madeley parents Martin Martin & Ann

They must have got a discount for baptising 3 on the same day!! They can't be triplets because judging by the weddings below it would have meant Ann was 10 when she wed.

Marriages:-

Ann Martin married Benjamin Evans 23 April 1815 Madeley
Maria Martin married Charles Fox 23 May 1825
Martin Martin married Hannah Jones 31 Oct 1822 Madeley.
(Could this be the parents marrying after all the kids were born? I haven't come across a son called Martin Martin.

Hi Dianne,Thankyou so much for your help,I really appreciate it. I must confess the Info you gave me regarding Michael as threw me a little. On all the census returns it as him as being born in either Madeley or Coalbrookdale, maybe he was born in Gloucester and moved to Shropshire at a young age. Its certainly worth looking into. Once again many many thanks for your kind help,I will certainly look into all the information you have given me.
Kind regards Pauline x
