Hi thanks for your replies! I haven't obtained a copy of her birth certificate yet but will do as soon as I can afford to!
I do have the witnesses names Suzanne on both certificates, my Grandmother Joyce (b.22 Feb 1928) married (1st time) in Wood Green, Middlesex in 1948. And her sister Florence Beryl(b.1926) married in Wolverton, Milton Keynes, Bucks in 1949. I have no confirmation anywhere about any other siblings, only Florence Beryl - I have photo's of them together with writing on back stating 'my sister Beryl' . I then found a photo of a grave - 'Florence Beryl Rice - Died 11 May 1953- age 26' I know Florence married Donald Edgar Rice and had 2 children - Christine (1950) & Graeme (1951). There is no mention of Joyce's or Florence parents anywhere, all 'Fathers Name' boxes of Marriage certificates are blank. My dad can remember being told at some point about their parents dying at a young age.
As for the birth register, there is a Joyce Davison in Q2 of 1928, as for Florence Beryl, there is nothing but a Flossie Davison in 1926 - surely this must be her?? And do you think that the Joyce Davison I found is the right one?? Oh dear.....
Many thanks for your reply David, I dont know my great grandmothers name unfortunately - I wish I did!
any more help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards

What was your GG mothers first name.

Note*

A Henry Davison married an Ellen Hoare in Mar 1913 Dover.

They possibly had daughters Ruby c1915 and Helena c1916.

If you have her birth cert..doesn't it give father's name?

Did mother marry Davison after Joyce's birth?

Who are witnesses on marriage certs of two daughters? Are there any other siblings?

After a long (un-necessary) search I have managed to locate my grandmother on BMD register - Joyce Davison 1928 Quarter 2- Dover . My dad told me that there was no connection with Kent, then I got her Death certificate and it stated birth place as Dover, Kent! (Thanks dad!) Anyway, it says mothers maiden name as Hoare so have been looking for a possible Hoare-Davison marriage but to no avail - unless I missed it! Eyes start aching after a while! I have her and her sister's marriage certificates and neither of them state father's name, if I have been told rightly they were ophaned at a young age . I can give more details if needed, any help would be appreciated !

Regards

Donna . (frustrated!)
