Doster was Edwards Middle Name He moved to Toxteth in Liverpool with his brother Alfred
They were both lodging there in the 1881 census.

Also looking for family from the Southport area children of Edward don't think they must have a family tree as I have had no hot matches as yet with that side of the family most of them born in Liverpool.

Well you have his motherinlaw there as Sarah Simons, so at least you have the wifes surname (assuming mum didnt remarry). Did they marry after 1837 registration? In which case buy the marriage cert for details of both their fathers. £7 from GRO online.

Thanks Andy you have confirmed what I thought I,d found. Next step is James Parents who I think might be a James and Rebecca.

James born 1796 I think my James was his son with a siser Elizabeth Emma Ellen and Eliza Jane.

Trouble is there seem to be loads of Pitmans in that area so don't quite know if it is the right family connection. Its all fascinating.
